“I don’t want to be a solitary tree”

This variation of the original “I feel like an island” patch was a request from a friend who who asked for the design but with a different meaning behind it.

In the request, a part that really jumped out at me that I wanted to share was this:

“On this journey I am focused on my family and friends and just loving everyone as much as I possibly can. Truly, that is all that is important to me anymore. I don't want to be a solitary tree.”

When I read this I realized that I don’t want to be a solitary tree anymore either, and learning to let go of the comfort of solitude isn’t easy. Learning slowly how to open myself up and move through fear has been the driving force in being able to create art that helps others on their journey as well. It’s a privilege for me to create artwork that people are able to resonate with and forge meaning behind in different ways that I hadn’t seen before.
